The present research follows the story of an empiricist physician in Bucharest by the middle of 19th century. More precisely, his fight against the sanitary administration of the Romanian Principalities, for the recognition of free practice right. His petitioning fight develops between 1860 and 1866, that is exactly the period when Doctor Carol Davila was trying to reorganize and implicitely modernize the sanitary system of the United Principalities of Romania, after 1862. This battle he would loose, as did all unlicensed healers of his time. |
