This paper explores the beginnings of forensic medicine in the Romanian territories since the late Middle Ages. It presents accounts and historical documents that significantly contributed to the development and evolution of legal medicine as a science in our country. As pioneers in the development of forensic legislation and practice in Romania, are to be mentioned: the Voivodes Vasile Lupu and Matei Basarab from the XVIIth century, as well as doctors and legal experts like Mateo Muriano, Prospero Farinacci, Constantin Hepites, Carol Davila, Iacob Felix, Alexandru Sutzu, Mina Minovici and others. |
