Excerpt Each of us sees the city in a distinct way. Time, state of mind, age or even the routes of travelling trace out for us another fragment of Bucharest. The spaces, interspaces,
buildings or the monuments come in sight, grow old, some evanish, but most of them become different, start their life in a new context, switch beneficiaries, are given other functions or ‚,attire”. The urban scenes are intricate structures that only meet with approval in a certain
ambience. They resemble secluded pieces of transfer paper, lacking a coherent support. The urban complexity finds a remarkable replica within the funerary space. As an architectural program, it is oftentimes passed over or neglected. Place of the departed and of memory, the funerary space is a living body. This Necropolis is oddly an architectural space par excellence, a compound structured on cultural criteria (in a broad sense), social,
economic, political, of age or affiliation to certain categories. It is that place where the calking paper leaves are overlaid and where the initial function of the edifices and the aesthetics of the identity markings remain the same. It is a time-generated zone yet outside of time the timeless city, under the magnifying glass.
