| Excerpt | An unprecedented family correspondence of the 19th century’s beginning unveils the thoughts of a young mother who renounces the conventional journal in favor of missives – we came into the possession of 20 classical illustrated postcards – sent from her own address (strada Sfinţii Voievozi No. 1, Calea Griviţa 73, and then Sărindar 8) - to her barely-born son (Jan 17 1900). In the article we have inserted the whole text of the postcards, keeping the orthography and punctuation of the original, which constitutes a veritable history of mentality page – recreating the universe of a possible „mamiţa” /mother and a future „d-l Goe”/Costica. The images of the postcards accompany the text, suggesting possible itineraries around the late 19 – early 20th century Bucharest. |
