Excerpt | From an anthropological and urbanistic point of view, the railway station has represented a relatively new urban component, with major implications within the public space, since the 19th century. During its brief existence, it has gained and already lost attention, it has generated extremely various feelings going from tragedy to happiness, it has housed events marking the sense of history. Gradually dis-appreciated and pseudo-abandoned, the railway station is to be re-discovered, rehabilitate and revalued, having in mind, at the same time, the meanings it englobes, together with its basic function, as, wherever it may be located, it represents the primary source for urban public experiments. |
