Excerpt The article presents the town of Bucharest during the reign of Şerban Cantacuzino - related to the Byzantine emperor Ioan VI Cantacuzino (1347-1354) - whose reign is connected to the development of the Wallachian capital. The author mentions the history of the ruler’s family, the premises of Bucharest becoming a capital, the conflicts between rival families of the epoch, which marked the evolution of historical events, the social structure of Bucharest of the time. Şerban Cantacuzino was the founder of the Cotroceni monastery- an edifice with an ingesting history in itself.
