Excerpt | Nobleman (boyar) Dinicu Golescu had a residence built on the Podul Mogosoaiei Street, during 1912-1915. It was a neoclassical building with 25 rooms. After his death, it was sold to the State, and became a rulers' residence. Alexandru Ioan Cuza chose it as his residence, after his election as a ruler of the reunited principalities of Moldavia and Walachia. It underwent significant changes, throughout the years. The paper renders details concerning the interior decoration and the architectural transformation of the building that, finally, was to become the Romanian kings 'residence. |
