Excerpt | Dealing with the technological stages of moulding and casting techniques for making replicas, the article begins with a short historical note based on historical information and observation during restorations. There is a direct connection between restoration-conservation and making replicas. Only the restorer who is acknowledged about conservation of museum objects is able to make replicas. „Primum non nocere" fits not only for medicine but even for conservation of works of art and shows that the physical or chemical stability of an ancient object must never be destroyed. It is from this point of view that the author explains the best ways we have to choose and regarding the stull the object is made of and the estate of conservation, the materials to use exclusively. |
