Excerpt | Theoretic perspectives regarding the future urban structure of the capital and the "Bucharest- 2000" competition The essay starts from a paper signed by Dana Harhoiu, "Bucharest a town between the Orient and the Occident", book that became next the basic text of the "Bucharest 2000" competition, in architecture. The daring ideas of the authoress are presented and analyzed in parallel with the writings of another great architect, C. M. Cantacuzino. The attention is drawn upon the delay in the works meant to bring the winning architecture project (belonging to Meinhard von Gerkan) to life, and upon the review of the last models made, starting from the initial one, created by the above-mentioned author. The models made by a Romanian-German group starting from the original one, have lost the brilliancy Gerkan's work has imagined. |
