Excerpt | Ştefan cel Mare (Ştephen the Great) and Bucharest Ruler Ştefan cel Mare's biography is tied to that of another perhaps even more famous Romanian ruler, Vlad the Impaler, whose contemporary he was and with the armed help of whom he acquired the throne of Moldavia - neighbor province of Wallachia. In his turn, Stephen the Great supported Vlad the Impaler regains his Wallachian throne, in 1476. As a skilled politician, Stephen the Great was an alert, permanent presence in the political and military life of the Wallachian Capital, Bucharest. The author records documents and facts even more significant during the present epoch, as this year we commemorate 500years since the ruler's death. |
