| Excerpt | The Cotroceni Palace during the rule of Barbu Dimitrie Stirbey The paper deals with the period comprised between the years 1849-1856. During this period in the Cotroceni Palace history, changes were accomplished, leaving a neo-classical-imprint due to the architect Anton Heft. The interior decoration was remade according to the epoch style, the furniture, mirrors, plaster adornments and other embellishment elements being made in Viennese style. ln the same period, the monastic complex was restored, the church consolidated after the 1802 earthquake. The gardens were rearranged by the German landscape artist Wilhelm Meyer. At the same time, the surroundings of the Palace were given much attention, the surroundings of the Palace were given much attention, the Cotroceni highroad was modernized, the Brâncoveanu fountain was repaired. |
