| Excerpt | The Icoanei Street and its surroundings are reference points in the history of Bucharest. The architecture in the area is a mixture of styles. Most of the houses here are 150-180 years old, charming, preserving the glamour of the life of yore, some - simple, others - sumptuous noble residences, among which the col. Lahovary house built in a neo-Romanian „Brâncoveanu" style, by the famous Romanian architect Ion Mincu; worth mentioning - the Darvari hermitage, the Girls' Central School (also built by Ion Mincu), the elegant Anglican Church, the Ioanid Park. |
