| Excerpt | The Ştirbey Palace is one of the most representative buildings in Bucharest; built on the Podul Mogoşoaiei /Calea Victoriei Street, between 1835 - 1836, by Barbu Dimitrie Ştirbey, who was to become Prince of Wallachia (1849-1856). The authoress refers to the history of the place where the palace was placed, the history of the building, designed by the French architect Michel Sanjouand in a neoclassic style, and enlarged by the architect Friedrich Hartman in 1882, in connection with the history of Barbu Ştirbey's family, offering, thus, a view of the Romanian society developed along the 91th and 20th centuries.
