| Excerpt | The dreamlike lands of the Dyonisopolis of yore - Balcic today - attracted and inspired many Romanian artists. On the „Silver Coast", near Queen Mary's palace, an interesting building attests the Romanian presence in a territory that, for a brief period, belonged to our country: the Storck house, designed and decorated by the women-painter Cecilia Cuţescu-Storck who has managed to notice and render a comprising, expressive image of the fascinating panorama. The house shows an important side of the woman-painter - a real pioneer in domains that, up to her time, had remained forbidden for women, such as monumental painting in Romania, or university art teaching in Europe. |
