Excerpt | The news about a balloon able to fly using warm air, having been invented in France, in 1783, must have reached the Romanian provinces fast. Iordache Cuparencu has entered the history of aviation as the first Romanian who built and used a balloon with warm air, two hundred years ago. According to the present data, the first balloon with warm air, without man on board, was launched in Bucharest in 1818.The aeronautic ascensions due to the French Henri Beudet and then to the French Marius Willemot and the Romanian Ioan Petrescu, represent the first series of major aeronautic events on the Romanian territory. The article presents the history of the first Romanian attempts at coping with the immense progress achieved by the West, concerning the flying technologies. |
